Land was first purchased for Sts. Peter & Paul Church in March 1861. Because of the Civil War, the church was not built and finished until 1872. A one-room schoolhouse was built in 1876. In 1882 the land next to the church was purchased. Also in 1882 property was puchased and consecrated as the cemetery. Missionaries of the Precious Blood began coming to Putnam County around the year 1833.
Sts. Peter & Paul celebrated their 150th year in 2018. Many changes have happened since the beginning in the physical buildings. Many Missionaries have come and gone through the years. The people remain the same; wanting to grow closer to God and serve him.
