Q: What is the purpose of your ministry?
"An important part of parish life and leadership is the Parish Pastoral Council. This group of faithful men and women are called to lead, above all by example. They provide the Pastor with wise counsel for ensuring the spiritual and pastoral vitality of their parish community, now and in the future."

"Pastoral Councils were initiated in the place of parish councils. The biggest difference between the two entities is that Pastoral Councils, like a Bishop's Diocesan Pastoral Council, were to provide accurate and relevant counsel regarding the needs of parishioners and recommend responses to those needs rather than addressing or responding to specific administrative areas such as care of facilities or hiring of personnel."

At Saints Peter and Paul, the Pastoral Council has been working on approaching the life of the Parish in this manner. Over the last two years, the council has been the primary advisory board for Fr. Scott. In addition to recommending responses to the needs of parishioners, the team has been working on four areas of a vital parish (Worship, Sense of Community, Faith Formation and Outreach). While it's still early on, the team has gathered the current state of our parish life and is determining what the next steps to grow involvement in these areas are.

The Pastoral Council welcomes and encourages all parish members to reach out in charity to any member of the council. Please share any items that are of concern for the parish, suggestions to improve one of the four areas or provide insight into challenges facing the parish. We look forward to new members elected by the parish to join the team as well as feedback from all parishioners!

Q: How frequently do you meet?
Pastoral council meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month from September-May.

Q: How does someone become involved?
To be considered for pastoral council, contact any member of the council or reach out to the rectory to be added to the next election ballot. Elections take place in March/April every year.

Q: How long has the ministry been serving the parish?
From the beginning.

Q: How do you communicate activities with the Parish?
We publish meeting minutes in the bulletin every month. We also try to utilize our Parish Remind app when announcements are needed.

- Be a voice to converns of parishioners
- Encourage the parish to be a welcoming community of faith
- Prioritize parish needs and dreams
- Encourage collaborative efforts with other parishes
- Enact diocesan directives
- Recommend strategies to the Pastor to address needs of the parish community
